This fourth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean is loosely based on a book by Tim Powers, titled On Stranger Tides, which follows the exploits of John 'Jack Shandy' Chandagnac, who travels to the new world after the death of his puppeteer father to confront his uncle, who has apparently made off with the family fortune.In the movie, Jack Sparrow is a disgraced puppeteer whose ship is captured by pirates. Eventually, he joins the crew of the famous pirate Blackbeard in a quest for the Fountain of Youth.
